From club work
to a goal for many.
Some race against the clock. Others for the trip, the colleagues or the feeling of reaching the finish line. The Nordsjørittet has room for different ambitions.
A cycling event from Egersund to Sandnes became a common goal for friends, colleagues and families.
Fjords Cycling is the organiser today. Dalane Cycling Club, Nærbø Cycling Club and Sandnes Cycling Club still own the race. We continue a tradition that was built long before our own organization came into being.
The whole day matters.
Not just the kilometres.

Clubs, volunteers and organiser. Transport, food, first aid and participant flow must work together around the course.

Four moments from the first starting line to today's role as organiser.
1998
The first edition.
The new mass-participation race went from Egersund to Sandnes. 148 participants completed.
2008–2014
The club's work was given a larger framework.
Nordsjørittet AS was established around the efforts of the clubs and volunteers. The growth required more transport, food, first aid and participant flow.
2020–2021
A break. So back.
The pandemic caused a delay before the race was again held in September 2021.
From 2025
Fjords Cycling continues the work.
Fjords Cycling is responsible for the operation. Dalane, Nærbø and Sandnes cycling clubs retain ownership.
A lower threshold.
More at the starting line.
In the anniversary year 2023, Coop Mega contributed with a free start for participants up to and including 25 years of age. A concrete example of how a partner can make the race accessible to more people.
